A big family for Christmas...
December 22nd I was at the mall with my business partner Erin. While I’d already bought everything I needed for Christmas, we had a bit of time to kill between sessions with our Twelfth Year students, we decided to kill some time at the mall as we waited and grab lunch while we were at it. I got a call from Fred as we wandered around Sunrise Records. He asked if I had a studio and if I did family portraits, which I confirmed I sure did, but had to inform him I’d be closed on Christmas Eve. Disappointed, but understanding, Fred explained that his family was going to be in town together for the first time in the past 4 years as they’d been unable to be together due to COVID more recently. As we chatted, I started to feel bad for taking a hard line about it, as I know that if my family was all together for the first time since before COVID, I’d be wanting to get all of them together for a photo too.
It was worth it. The whole family was lovely to deal with, and as someone who never gets to see their extended family for the holidays, it was nice to experience their connection as they hugged and greeted each other upon arrival.
