Culture Night Portraits
I have been honoured to get the opportunity to work with Luther College High School in a variety of ways and for the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to work with them every fall when they host their Homecoming event - alums from multiple generations (usually by the decade) are invited to come home and catch up with their former classmates and reminisce of their times at Luther.
Obviously, when COVID hit, the homecoming event had to be cancelled, so I didn’t get a chance to see/work with them this past fall. So I was very pleased when I got a call at the end of February saying that they were in need of some images right away! Another annual event that they host is a cultural night as Luther has a number of international students. The event would be hosted online this year, but they were hoping that they could get some of the students to be photographed in traditional cultural clothing and the results were spectacular! I had so much fun shooting with these students (don’t worry, we observed social distancing, and I kept away from the students, but some of them were roommates and or direct family members). The students all looked amazing and, dare I say, I think they had fun doing it. I sure did!
